On I went, out of the wood, passing the man leading without knowing I was going to do so. Flip-flap, flip-flap, jog-trot, jog-trot, curnchslap-crunchslap, across the middle of a broad field again, rhythmically running in my greyhound effortless fashion, knowing I had won the race though it wasn't half over, won it if I wanted it, could go on for ten or fifteen or twenty miles if I had to and drop dead at the finish of it, which would be the same, in the end, as living an honest life like the governor wanted me to. -Alan Sillitoe, "Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner"

Does this make my run better, or worse?

I posted today's post yesterday again by accident.  Because I am a computer moron.  So here's something small for you.

My usual running route, along the river, is a highly popular picnic area.  This sign just popped up a few weeks ago.  Most days it's a non-issue, but on the weekends, especially with this glorious weather we've been having lately,* the place is JAM PACKED with barbecuers.  With their competing stereos, well... it gets loud.

The question will be: will people obey it?  Early signs indicate: NO.

*Last weekend and in general.  Not today, obviously.

  2. So if you posted today's post yesterday, does that mean you actually predicted the birth of Paula's child???

  5. Thanks, Jen!!

Yeah, I'm doubly a moron. Here's the deal: I write out my posts over the weekend, most of the time. But then stuff happens, like Paula has a baby. So yesterday I went to add that to the post that should have showed up today, but I accidentally hit "publish" without telling it to hold off a day. So that post showed up yesterday - right after I found out that she had her baby (I saw it on twitter yesterday afternoon). So then I pushed this post up so that I had something new for today.

Does that make sense, or does it just make it more confusing?
