MY QUEST TO QUALIFY NOT JUST FOR THE OLYMPIC TRIALS BUT FOR THE 2016 OLYMPICS IN THE MARATHON (to do this I will need to halve my marathon time)
On I went, out of the wood, passing the man leading without knowing I was going to do so. Flip-flap, flip-flap, jog-trot, jog-trot, curnchslap-crunchslap, across the middle of a broad field again, rhythmically running in my greyhound effortless fashion, knowing I had won the race though it wasn't half over, won it if I wanted it, could go on for ten or fifteen or twenty miles if I had to and drop dead at the finish of it, which would be the same, in the end, as living an honest life like the governor wanted me to. -Alan Sillitoe, "Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner"

Sweet! Have you done one before? I am thinking about doing one in Kettle Moraine on 9/15 but need to check out how crazy the hills are first :)ReplyDelete
Nope! Never. This seems like basically a beginner ultra, which is why I'm down for it!Delete
Way to man up. Looks like a good choice for a first ultra (this is your first, right?). Be sure to train off road a little.ReplyDelete
"Manning up" by choosing basically the easiest ultra out there. Yup.Delete
That sounds awesome. I can show you some nice trails up in Westchester if you want!ReplyDelete
Yes, please!! Are you marathon training this fall?Delete
AWESOME!! I am available to train with you up to 14 miles...When I get back in shape. Right now I'm only good for approximately 6, because I am a wimp and skip my long runs. Every weekend.ReplyDelete
Congrats for making the jump! I am not an ultra runner to be able to give advice, but I am a slow runner myself, so I got that covered if you want to exchange tips ;-). Oh, and I love your blog, keep it up!ReplyDelete
